TSC-LAM, yoga and me

hi all ,
you know how I  did a post  titled  recovering from a dreadful illness .
how the DRs thought I had legionaries disease , well its not
on the 16th  of  October 2018 I was diagnosed with  a rare  illness  that has 22 letters in it! yes you read right
here  is the  name  Lymphangioleiomyomatosis. LAM  for short .
there  are two types of LAM  mine is TSC -LAM. and there is sporadic LAM
what happens in  LAM is LAM targets  the smooth  cell lining on the lungs including, the airway .
and blood vessels  multiply , abnormally and go where they don't belong, the air sacs in the lungs also swell  and form cysts that grow. this causes us to have shortness of breath etc .
its a slow progressive illness .
all  LAM patients  are different  LAM is a woman's disease .
I would  rather say  illness sounds nicer I reckon .
why LAM gets woman of child bearing years is not really   known .
LAM is a rare  cystic lung disease , and is not always picked up  in some woman for years , it can be misdiagnosed, as
asthma, ,COPD, bronchitis  and emphysema . because they are all very similar.
 how I was diagnosed  was with a blood test and a high resolution  CT scan . these lungs are mine and show the spots of LAM.
when I told the chest dr  I have tuberous sclerosis complex ,
he pricked his ears up , his eyes bulged wide , and the tests began .
I was referd to him by my dr , because of my constant coughing  that would not go away .
if I hadn't  had the cough I would  never had known.
if I hadn't kept on at the drs  , I would never had known
the first two drs  wrote it off  as , I knew it was more than stress .
feeling very unsatisfied , I  went to our family dr , if I could have got into see our dr , first , I would have.
 I saw the dr finally  and the rest is history .
to help manage LAM , along  with your medications , is to reduce  stress.
exercise  is a big part  of  helping  to manage LAM ,
ti-chi , mediation,  and yoga all help with your  mind  , body, and spirit.
all give you an inner  strength to handle , blindsides  such as our diagnosis
I know yoga gives me a sense of peace and inner strength  I never knew I had .
you can do any exercise within your capabilities .
yoga is my exercise of choice  but always ask your dr  before doing any form of exercise
remember as hard as it is  stay strong you are not alone.

all forms of it, and we flow with the river,
or we refuse .
if we flow with the river, we can digest it, as it were,
as we flow, and feel no suffering . accept it.
and we are one with the river ,
resist it and we are hurt.

recovering from a dreadful illness

what a year its been.
I have some good news  for a change !
I'm recovering from a dreadful illness, legionnaires disease infact .
I'm fine with that now, all cured  I also have a thing like asthma, I'm getting better there too!
finally ! I have been given the go to start , yoga again , but for only 10 mins and only the sitting asanas {poses} .
I'm so excited I don't know where to put myself ! I have been itching to get back into yoga for 9 long months . but couldn't the strength was zapped  clean out of me,
now I can start to rebuild my strength. I will be able to sleep ! ,stop grinding my teeth  and get back that inner strength and peace yoga gives you.
 so looking forward to not  groaning when  getting off the couch !etc.
 just thinking about it is just wonderful.
 well  I have just completed 10 mins of yoga and boy I feel great, its amazing how I feel, just on those few asanas, {poses}  .after 9 months  of not being able to do any  yoga at all !
I got off my yoga mat without groaning ! wow !!!

the yoga asanas i did are

  • the relaxation pose
  • the backstretch
  • the spinal twist
  • the turtle
  • the candle
  •  the relaxation pose,again to end off the yoga session .
I didnt kill myself with pushing, the yoga, thats not what yoga is.
its  to go with the flow. im sore but its a good sore, tomorrow ,i will be doing another yoga session .
its relaxed my throat no end . now i will get james to start with me.
whats great about  yoga  is  everything about it.
if you have had to have a long break  at no fault of your own, it welcomes you.
and welcomes the new people who have just found yoga.

yoga  doesnt  judge you.

our fur baby, madam harriet rest in peace.

 2018  has not started  off  as a good one.
we had the passing of our fur baby , Harriet, on the 15th of January  of liver failure.
in the end,  her legs gave out and much more.  we knew it was time for our Harriet not to suffer anymore .
in Harriet's life she was and is loved  beyond words.
 her liver  problems started  when she was 7 years ,she made it through, and had many years of good health. then before Christmas to our horror , Harriet had another bout she made it through, everything was ok. so we thought, Harriet  had put weight on and was looking good.  we thought she would be ok. then she went downhill  on Friday the 12th of January , her little body couldn't take another bout so soon  . so we decided  Harriet needed to go  and have a long  peaceful sleep  . we needed to say goodbye in our own way so we had the weekend  to say our goodbyes it was and is absolutely heartbreaking madam Harriet as we call her is no longer suffering, and is with  people who love her who have also passed  she is now  happy , in no pain and at peace.

we miss you so much our darling girl.

get moving

James and I  had  a wonderful holiday visiting  my lovely mum in York western Australia .
mum and I went  to the exercise  group mum goes to , its called  Mobility ,to  my surprise, they do a lot of yoga  asanas  {yoga poses }  I  was in my element. I was getting  ready to do the chair exercises , when  a lady came up to  me and said , no chair exercises for you . I smiled and asked why. the lady said you are young enough,  flexible enough, and fit enough to do the floor exercises .she gently grabbed me by the arm and led me to the exercise mats  she smiled and said  now grab a mat . the ladies that go,  made me feel so welcome and are a barrel of laughs .
my coordination  was shocking . I knew it wasn't my day. so I did my own. I did a yoga workout ! I asked after mobility  if  that was alright, I was told you can do what you like  as long as you are moving .
then  once everything  is put away its off  for coffee and a good chat then home . leaving you  feeling great and energised for the rest of the day   what could be better than that .
it just goes to show that exercise does not discriminate .
as long as you are moving , your life will improve ten fold and you will be better for it.
so get moving  whenever  or however you can.

Back into the 21st century

hi all , we have been connected to  a  new internet system.
 its called the{ NBN}  National  broadband network .
what a drama !!  its like you need a degree just to get everything connected !
then we had to wait even longer, for  our  internet server to switch it on !
this is all  how it came about.
we received  a new modem or gateway as they like to call it , and a new phone in the post.
the instructions  in with the package to connect everything were easy enough. so we thought , how wrong we  were! weeks went past  still no internet  how frustrating!  I felt like pulling my hair out . I'm surprised I'm not bald !! finally  we had had enough  and got our computer guy out , he said we needed  a wireless gadget  , don't ask me the name  ,I have no idea  James went out , brought  what we needed,  our computer guy  installed  it , and hey  presto !!!!
we are back into the 21st century !!!!
we hated being  offline for so long, now you will be seeing more of us and you know what , we cant wait .
